Meet The Owner
Otis Gowdy
Dr. Otis Gowdy, Jr. is a 1995 graduate of Xavier University of Louisiana. He received his medical degree from University of South Alabama in 1999. He completed his residency training in internal medicine and nephrology fellowship from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2002 and 2005 respectively. Dr. Gowdy received his MBA from Auburn University in 2012. He is the current Mississippi Governor for the American College of Physicians. He is a member of the National Medical Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Society of Nephrology. He serves on the Mississippi Nephrology Task Force contributing to policy and procedures for the state. He is a former member of the Fresenius Medical Care Advisory Board. He resides in Meridian, MS where he practices nephrology and medicine at the Internal Medicine Clinic and serves on the executive committee for the clinic. He is a former Chief of Staff at Anderson Regional Medical Center in Meridian. Dr. Gowdy serves as the chairman of the city planning commission and is president of advisory board for the Mississippi Children’s Museum-Meridian. He serves on the Meridian Museum of Art board, and on the Aldersgate board.
Dr. Gowdy is a charter member and the first president of XULA Meridian Chapter. He helped spearhead the chapter’s goal of forming its endowment fund for the university. The chapter has hosted university presidents Dr. Francis, Dr. Verret, and other university leaders at its annual brunch. As chapter president, he has participated at other Xavier chapter fundraising events. He established the Dr. Otis Gowdy, Jr. ‘95 Endowment and helped form the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Alpha Lambda Chapter Endowment. He is the proud father of two children, Bentley 12 and Berkley 9. He has been named Parent of the Year by Northeast Middle School.
Dr. Gowdy is a member of Zion Hill C.M.E. Church where he serves as chairman of the Trustees and he is a proud Sunday School teacher of class number 2 (PreK through middle school).
